It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, but robot bricklayers are now being tested on UK construction sites. These machines, developed by a company in the Netherlands, can lay around 500 bricks in a single shift, and it doesn't need tea breaks! One person can supervise two robots at once, which could really help with the shortage of bricklayers we're currently facing.
A London construction company called Galostar is preparing to trial the robots. One of the biggest challenges will be making sure they can work safely on scaffolding and follow UK building rules and regulations.
Don't worry - these robots aren't replacing people. Instead, they're meant to support human workers by taking on repetitive tasks and speeding things up. The hope is that robots could help with tricky building designs or fill in when there aren't enough workers available.
So, while we're not quite at the stage where robots are building houses on their own, they could soon become a regular part of the construction team.
