The UK is continuing to move ahead with an ambitious new town development in Leicestershire, dubbed 'Thorpebury-in-the-Limes'. Spanning a whopping 900 acres, the plan includes 4,500 new homes, with a quarter of those set aside as affordable housing, as well as shops, healthcare facilities, and plenty of green space like parks and pathways. A care facility for older residents and both primary and secondary schools are also part of the vision. A temporary community cabin has been set up on site to keep locals in the loop.
The project is expected to take over a decade to complete, but construction has already begun, with a few properties already ready for families to move in. First-time buyers also benefit from initiatives like the First Homes Scheme, shared ownership, and special mortgages. If all goes to plan, Thorpebury could soon become a shining example of a thoughtful and modern development. Alongside the development, the government is investing £100m to train 40,000 new builders by 2029.
