Demolition has officially started at Anglia Square in Norwich, clearing the 1960's-era shopping centre to make way for a major £350 million redevelopment. The project aims to transform the area into a modern, mixed-use neighbourhood, addressing the long-standing housing needs and revitalising a central part of the city.
The redevelopment will deliver up to 1,100 new homes, a mix of affordable and market-rate properties, alongside shops, leisure facilities, and green public spaces. Norwich City Council has emphasised that the project will create a vibrant, accessible area designed for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
Demolition is expected to be completed by Spring 2026, with construction on the first phase of the new buildings beginning shortly after. The scheme will not only provide much-needed housing but also generate jobs during both construction and ongoing operation, helping to strengthen the local economy whilst reshaping the city centre for the future.
