Cardiff Bay Arena Project Officially Breaks Ground

Construction has officially begun on the new Cardiff Bay Arena, a 16,500-capacity venue in Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff. The arena is part of a wider regeneration project in the Bay that will also include a hotel, office space, new homes, and public areas, bringing fresh life to the waterfront.

McLaren Construction, working with Robertson Group, is the main contractor for the arena. The venue is designed to host a variety of events, from concerts and sports to family shows, and is expected to attract thousands of visitors each year, giving a boost to the local economy.

The arena is scheduled to open in 2028, creating new jobs both during construction and once operational. Alongside the arena, the Atlantic Wharf redevelopment will deliver over 1,000 homes, green spaces, and leisure facilities, helping transform the area into a modern, vibrant district.
