£100m Eden Project Morecambe Development Gets Green Light

Planning approval has been granted for the long-anticipated £100 million Eden Project Morecambe eco-attraction, marking a major milestone for this ambitious regeneration scheme on the Lancashire coast. The decision by Lancaster City Council allows a revised version of the project, now focused around two themed domes called the Realm of the Sun and the Realm of the Moon, to move forward.

The new design also includes 1.5 acres of interconnected community gardens that will be free for everyone to enjoy, creating welcoming public spaces even before the full attraction opens. Project partners say this next phase is "a transformative year" for Morecambe, with construction expected to begin later in 2026.

When complete, Eden Project Morecambe is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, drive footfall to local businesses, and create jobs in the area. Set to open in 2028, the scheme aims to celebrate the natural environment of Morecambe Bay while boosting economic growth and tourism in the region.
